Support
for Weld of Geomembrane is a geosynthetic
product developed by Plastisul to perform
restorations and detailed treatment through
extrusion in construction lines where polyethylene
geomembrane is used.
Soldering through extrusion provides heat
and an extruded fillet of melted polyethylene
from the same raw material of the PEAD Geomembrane.
The melted polyethylene fillet is placed
on the blankets edge or between the two
surfaces (flat soldering) to be soldered.
It is a fact that soldering through extrusion
is much more difficult to carry out than
soldering through plug or hot air and consequently
operating process is much slower, but this
is the only method available to make repairs.
As in the soldering through plug or hot
air, the solder must be gauged to fit the
blade temperature and the solder additional
support.
Since repairs, perforation patches, and
detailed treatments are always necessary,
this kind of solder is accomplished by the
extrusion soldering process. Surfaces are
temporarily joined with hot air before being
soldered. The area to be soldered must be
rubbed with sandpaper, so that the extruded
material better adhere to the surface. Make
sure that the panel material be not removed
in excess when rubbing with sandpaper.
